Kanarraville Lifestyle
With a population of around 400 people, Kannaraville is a small town with a tight-knit community in which neighbors respect and support one another. It’s a rural community with not many amenities or much in the way of dining, entertainment, and shopping but is quiet, simple, and peaceful. Since there are only a handful of local businesses, it’s likely that residents commute to work each day. With so many hiking opportunities and nearby outdoor amenities, it’s easy to live an active lifestyle.

Explore Expansive Terrain
Kanarraville has more than 40 local hiking, biking, and ATV trails for every type of explorer – whether a beginner, intermediate, and expert. Along these trails, you’ll come across local plants, slip through narrows, see rattlesnakes, mountain lions, and other wildlife, and stand in awe of red Navajo sandstone cliffs. You may even find a natural waterslide or two to ride down into a swimming hole.
Visit Kanarraville Gems
When people think of places to explore in Iron County, they often consider one of the famous national parks in close proximity to the county. These include Zion National Park, Arches National Park, or Capital Reef, to name a few. They may even choose to hike through the Dixie National Forest or make the day trip to the Grand Canyon. But inside Kanarraville, there are hidden gems that have only recently become a popular spot for hikers and tourists.
As one of Utah’s most photographed waterfalls, Kanarra Falls has drawn hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city to get their social media-worthy picture of the falls with its famous log ladder – which was unfortunately washed away in 2019. The falls have become so popular, you need a hiking permit to access them, and only 150 permits are given each day. While they can be busy, they’re worth the hike. Kanarra Falls is accessed through a slot canyon that requires hiking a few miles, sometimes in knee-deep water. A lesser-known Kanarraville attraction is Spring Creek, which starts a mile south of the city. On this hike, you’ll make your way up a canyon and into the narrows.
Frequent the Unique Local Businesses
There aren’t many businesses in Kanarraville, but within the handful of local businesses within the town, you’ll find some unique places to frequent. There’s a fine art shop that sells watercolor landscape paintings from an award-winning artist and a snackery that serves cool treats like smoothies, snow cones, and frozen bananas dipped in chocolate. Kanarraville also has a two-room, boutique hotel that features a restaurant/coffee shop and antique shop.
