Transforming Education in Rural Colorado

Formerly known as Prairie Heights Elementary School, Hanover Elementary is undergoing a transformative addition and renovation designed to meet the evolving needs of its students and community. Led by MOA ARCHITECTURE, the project replaces outdated facilities with modern, permanent learning environments while addressing critical upgrades related to safety, water quality, and building performance. We have never second guessed our selection of MOA as our design team leaders. We can not speak highly enough about their dedication, attention to detail and continued communication on all issues. Although we are a smaller project, they make us feel like we are their only client. It doesn't get any better than that.

Shaping Hanover Through Shared Vision

The design of the new Hanover Elementary was shaped through a highly collaborative process centered on community voices. District leaders, teachers, families, and local residents participated in a series of Design Advisory Group (DAG) workshops—ensuring that the final plan reflects shared values and real needs. These conversations highlighted several priorities: replacing temporary modular classrooms, improving entry security, creating spaces that ignite curiosity, and addressing long-standing water and mechanical system concerns. The resulting design is a direct expression of these community-driven goals, combining practical upgrades with spaces that elevate the educational experience.

Investing in Hanover’s Next Generation

When complete, the renovated and expanded Hanover Elementary will deliver lasting benefits to students, staff, and the broader community. Seven new classrooms will replace all modular units, giving students access to permanent, state-of-the-art learning environments. A secure entry vestibule will enhance safety and peace of mind, while the new media center will support exploration and digital literacy. Upgrades to the kitchen will improve the school’s ability to serve nutritious meals efficiently, and new mechanical systems will deliver healthier air and better overall building performance. The installation of a reverse osmosis system will ensure access to clean, high-quality water—a critical improvement for daily health and well-being.

Together, these enhancements lay the foundation for a stronger, more resilient school that reflects the pride and priorities of the Hanover community. By investing in modern learning spaces and essential infrastructure, the project ensures that Hanover Elementary can continue to support student success for decades to come.
