The Medtronic Lafayette Campus serves as the new Colorado regional headquarters for Medtronic, one of the world’s largest medical device companies. Designed to consolidate three previously separate offices and laboratory facilities into a single, integrated location, the campus consists of three four-story buildings supporting key business sectors: Surgical Innovation; Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, and Informatics; and the Restorative Therapeutics Group. This collaborative project, completed in partnership with Gensler, creates a unified and flexible workplace environment that supports innovation, wellness, and growth.
With employee well-being and operational efficiency as top priorities, the campus was designed to support a variety of working styles, encourage movement, and promote connection. The buildings house open office areas, laboratories, meeting spaces, and informal collaboration zones, allowing teams to interact fluidly across departments. Recognizing the company’s strong emphasis on education and training, the campus includes a flexible auditorium space equipped for video production and livestreaming. The architectural design draws from Colorado’s natural landscape, with a warm, regionally inspired materials palette and an overall site layout that frames dramatic views of the Front Range. Shared “view corridors” with full-height glazing on every floor connect employees to their surroundings and bring in ample natural light.
The Medtronic Lafayette Campus creates a health-focused, innovation-driven environment that empowers employees and enhances company culture. With amenities such as a fitness center, cafeteria, and outdoor workspaces, the campus reinforces Medtronic’s commitment to employee wellness and work-life balance. The thoughtful integration of collaborative and quiet zones supports the company’s dynamic and cross-functional teams. Beyond the buildings themselves, the campus layout promotes movement and connection, encouraging employees to engage with both their colleagues and the natural beauty of the site. The new regional headquarters positions Medtronic for continued innovation and impact in the medical device industry while rooting the company firmly in Colorado’s landscape and workforce.
