Bear Creek K-8 School
Bear Creek K-8 School, part of Jeffco Public Schools, is a two-story facility designed and constructed on an active campus, requiring careful planning to maintain operations at the two existing schools during construction. Serving 1,080 students, the new building is organized around a central north–south spine that separates academic spaces on the west from activity areas on the east, creating a clear and efficient circulation while maximizing daylight in all classrooms. The ground floor houses a K–1 academy and a 2–5 grade-level pod, while the second floor accommodates grades 6–8, providing a cohesive learning environment for the full range of elementary and middle school students.

- New Construction
The design of Bear Creek K-8 draws inspiration from its surrounding Rocky Mountain landscape, with exterior colors and materials reflecting the geological character of Bear Creek and the Hogback Ridge. MOA implemented innovative site strategies, including the reconfiguration of a public street, to create adequate separation from residential areas and expand site capacity. Every aspect of the building was conceived to maximize daylight, foster connections between age-appropriate learning communities, and create a safe and engaging environment that supports both academic and social growth.
Bear Creek K-8 School provides a modern, flexible, and inspiring environment that enhances student learning and community engagement. Its thoughtful layout supports collaborative and individual learning, while the clear organizational spine and daylight-rich classrooms improve student comfort and focus. The project demonstrates MOA’s ability to deliver innovative design solutions on a constrained site, creating a school that not only meets the functional needs of a growing student population but also reflects and celebrates its natural surroundings.
