Marcus Appleby is a licensed architect, certified interior designer, and educator with over ten years of experience in commercial design and professional practice. He serves as the Commercial Innovation Leader, where he focuses on growing commercial sectors, building strategic partnerships, and improving design operations through technology and data. Marcus connects design, technology, and business development to support MOA’s long-term growth and is dedicated to mentoring emerging professionals and advancing new approaches to practice.

In addition to professional practice, Marcus teaches in Colorado State University’s Interior Architecture and Design program, with an emphasis on health, safety, welfare, and professional practice. His research on emerging technologies and open-source information in the AEC industry has been presented at the Interior Design Educators Council Annual Conference. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Council for Interior Design Qualification and has been involved in advancing professional standards since 2018. Marcus holds a Master of Interior Architecture and Product Design from Kansas State University.

Favorite MOA Project

The Stanley Hotel is my favorite MOA project because it perfectly captures what architecture can do when it respects history while making space for contemporary experiences. The project honors an iconic, culturally significant building.
