As a Project Architect, I produce drawings and ensure we submit a comprehensive set that will be approved by the AHJ. I’m good at visualizing how all the different systems come together and knowing where an extra section cut or detail may be needed to convey design intent. I strive to produce a detailed set of drawings that will have minimal questions or changes during construction, so the client is not surprised by unexpected issues.

My Why

I choose to work at MOA because of the people and because the people are always put first. I had an experience at a previous firm where that was not the case. After a severe illness, I returned to work and was immediately called into the HR office and reprimanded for taking 5 days off when I only had 2 days of PTO available. While I understand the issue, there wasn’t much I could do about the fact that I was dealing with an illness and could not work. The conversation ended with the HR manager making sure I understood that I owed that time back to the company. If a similar situation were to happen at MOA, I know that first and foremost, the principals would be concerned with my health and wellbeing, and any conversations around PTO allotment would be handled with kindness and understanding. At MOA, leadership care about the people first; we are more than just 40-hour-a-week employees. Leadership recognizes and supports the people, whose different strengths ensure the success of the firm.

Favorite MOA Project

The Stanley Chocolate Factory! The Old Church Shops was an important building with a long history in Estes Park; however, it was in need of ADA and fire safety upgrades and was ready for a new chapter. Although a small building, this was one of the most challenging projects I have worked on because of its complexity; I spent many hours taking as-built measurements, modeling the existing building, and trying to figure out how to fit in all the new amenity space the owner wanted. You wouldn't know it from the outside, but there are nine different floor levels in that building, including two new roof top decks, and all new stairs connecting them. The owner was very involved during construction, and our team was always ready to react to changes and additions to bring his vision to life. I am so proud of the transformation, and I hope residents and visitors of Estes Park enjoy the new space.
